Residence Hall Assignments

Process and timing for residence hall rooms on campus

Updated on February 16th, 2023

Room assignments are made upon the Summer Programs student's arrival on the day of move-in, based on age and gender identity. Students who have a request to room with a particular person are asked to bring a documented request with them to move-in (e.g. email, letter, text message, etc.) that states their mutual agreement to live together. We also highly recommend arriving to check-in at the same time, as roommate assignments are typically made based on the order of the check-in line. The Housing and Residential Life team does their best to honor all requests, and will by default pair roommates by age group (minors will be grouped separately from 18+ students) and gender identity. Students who identify as non-binary have the option to choose which residence hall assignment they feel most comfortable in at the time of check-in. Residence halls are located close to or a relatively short distance from the buildings in which classes, rehearsals, and other on-campus activities and events take place.

Requests

Due to the limited availability of residence hall rooms on campus, we are unable to accommodate requests. If a Summer Programs participant needs a room with specific features, please see the article below outlining the process on requesting accommodations.

Summer Programs Accommodations

Accessibility Resources for Students
Accommodations are available for students with disabilities. Accommodations for students enrolled in one of Berklee's summer programs are created through an interactive process that includes the student, the faculty, the Office of Housing and Residential Education, a dietitian, and the Accessibility Resources for Students staff. Students can request academic, housing, and dietary accommodations by following the appropriate steps listed below.

Additionally, Accessibility Resources provides available services such as academic coaching services, Testing Center, Alternative Format, and referrals to adaptive technologies.

Students should submit documentation of their disability or special need, and the request for accommodation before the program start date. Accommodations cannot be arranged unless appropriate documentation is on file with Berklee.

For more information on services for students with disabilities, contact Accessibility Resources for Students at 617-747-2387 or accessibilityresources@berklee.edu.

Academic Accommodations
