Residence Hall Assignments

Updated on October 24th, 2023

Please note that the following procedures are subject to change without notice. We may deviate from the stated guidelines based on evolving needs and planning considerations.

Day-of Move-In Assignments
Upon arrival for move-in, room assignments are made based on age and gender identity. If you have a preference for a specific roommate, please bring documented evidence of mutual consent (e.g., email, letter, text message) to the check-in.

Check-In Timing
To maximize your chances of rooming together, we recommend that you and your preferred roommate arrive simultaneously for check-in. Assignments are generally influenced by the order of arrival.

Roommate Pairing
By default, roommates are paired based on age group—minors are separated from students aged 18 and above—and gender identity.

Options for Gender Diverse Students
Students whose gender aligns with something outside of their sex assigned at birth have the flexibility to choose a residence hall assignment that aligns with their comfort level at the time of check-in.

Proximity to Campus Activities
Our residence halls are located either close to or within a relatively short distance of venues for classes, rehearsals, and other campus events.

Special Requests and Accommodations

Room Availability
Due to high demand and limited space, we're unable to entertain special room requests.

Accessibility Needs
For students requiring specific room features, please refer to the following article that details the process for requesting accommodations.

  3. Schedule a welcome meeting online or call Accessibility Resources at 617-747-2387. As part of the welcome meeting, an Access Advisor and the student will discuss barriers to housing and how an accommodation(s) will provide access. • a list of allergies or restrictions, and how they might affect the student's disability or disabilities; and
    • a clear statement of the disability or disabilities, including diagnosis.

  4. If eligible and reasonable accommodations are established, the student will be referred to meet with Berklee's registered dietician or the director of dining services for a consultation. Please visit the dining website for more information.
