Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive offers credit and non-credit enrollment options and students select one at the time of registration.
All students in the program take the following classes:
- Theory in Performance
- Musicianship
- Ensemble (one section)
- Private Instruction
- Instrumental Labs
- Instrumental Survey
- Elective (one from the Mandatory Elective list)
However, students in the credit track take additional classes, including Performance Perspectives and a second elective, and have the opportunity to audition for additional ensembles.
The credit track offers participants the opportunity to receive three college credits if they earn a grade of B or higher in their core classes. This track is ideal for students aiming to use college credits toward a degree or certificate. International students who select the credit track are required to obtain an F-1 student visa as it is considered full-time study at the post-secondary level.
The non-credit track does not offer college credit. This track is suitable for students seeking personal growth without pursuing formal academic credit. Students have graded assignments and receive a participation certificate upon completion, but their studies do not result in college credit or an official transcript. International students who select the non-credit track are permitted to attend using a B-2 tourist visa or ESTA as it is considered part-time study and recreational in nature.
