F-1 Entry for Citizens of Canada and Bermuda

Updated on February 23rd, 2023

Citizens of Canada and Bermuda participating in the Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive are not required to apply for an F-1 visa at a US embassy or consulate in advance. However, you must still enter the US in F-1 status to participate in the program (see visa requirements) and will need an I-20 from Berklee and to pay the I-901 SEVIS fee prior to seeking entry.

When traveling to the US for the program, you will need to present the following documents to seek entry in F-1 status:

  • your passport
  • your I-20
  • your I-901 SEVIS fee receipt, and
  • supporting financial documentation

Do Not Use Global Entry for Aspire: Five-Week

Do not use a Global Entry kiosk upon arrival to the US, even if you are a Global Entry member. This often results in entry in B-2 tourist status which would prohibit you from studying in the Aspire: Five-Week Music Performance Intensive. To seek entry in F-1 status, you must follow the traditional arrival process and present your documents for review to an immigration officer.
